5/17: Boston Takes The Lead....

Greetings...
  • Boston takes the 1-0 lead behind a 92-88 victory in Orlando... Let me just say... this isn't Atlanta that Orlando is facing... they have a legitimate option to throw at Dwight (Perkins) and Dwight looked as though he wouldn't be the force he was last series... You look at the box score and find it hard to believe that Boston won... until you see 21 assists on 33 baskets... that's an excellent number and it helped them overcome underwhelming lines from Garnett and Rondo... for Orlando, they came out sluggish and it showed, but the 4th quarter (30-18 ORL) showed what they have... This is going to be a long series folks... and oh yeah, I can't wait to hear the deafening silence from all of the "Rondo is a top 3 PG" people now that he's nice facing the pu pu platter on defense...
  • First fantastic Lebron rumor.... him and John Calipari are a package deal... and this is "lead SportsCenter" news, huh?... fantastic
Baseball...
  • Pitching Line of the Weekend - Ricky Romero (Saturday) CG, 5 H, 0 ER, 12 Ks... doesn't get much cleaner than that...
  • Batting Line of the Weekend - Martin Prado (Sunday) 4-6, 2 HR, 3 RBI... the do-everything 2B gets some love here...
  • Braves take 2 of 3 from hapless Arizona despite alternating blowouts on the weekend... just keep winning series...
What to watch for...
  • Suns/Lakers Game 1 TNT - This should be a classic... I'm already on the record taking the mild upset with Boston in the East... I've battled/wrestled with this one... I've had Phoenix in 6 written down for a while... but I can't pull the trigger... if I knew what I was getting from Robin Lopez (i.e. if he was the Robin Lopez from February), I'd be picking Phoenix... but if Kobe decides to play within the bounds of reasonable thought (and pounds it inside), i'll take LA in 7...
  • Braves/Mets - Peachtree TV 7:00 - Lowe/Pelfrey... ah, the circus of Derek Lowe....
  • Yanks/Sox - ESPN 7:00 - Dice-K/Hughes.... worth watching to see what Phil Hughes can put together... guy has been lights out... 5-0 with a 1.38 ERA
