5/29: Boston in the Finals, Lendale White, etc.

Greetings...
  • Boston conquers the East.. an utterly dominant 3-quarter performance from the Celtics to be honest... Paul Pierce was fantastic (31 points on 15 shots, 13 rebounds), they got an unexpected explosion from Nate Robinson in the 1st half (13 points in 13 minutes total), and dominated the glass (45 to 35)... there is that small cloud hanging over their seeming inability to play a quality 4th quarter but it's pretty crazy when you think about their "standing" pre-playoffs and how dominant they've been... Dwight was pretty fantastic for Orlando yet again, but to say the Vince Carter experiment failed miserably would be an understatement, and Rashard Lewis disappeared for the great majority of the series.. I'm sure the offseason questions for Orlando will center around SVG, Dwight, and Vince... but how bout Otis Smith? Who spent 70+ million on Marcin Gortat and Brandon Bass only to see them be ineffective/non-factors... Just a thought...
  • Lendale White cut by the Seahawks... this one caught me really off-guard... considering he never played a game there... but then the news broke that he had a pending 4-game suspension for substance abuse violation... now it makes sense... the running back situation for Seattle is kinda crazy...
Baseball...
  • Pitching Line of the Day - Matt Cain... 9 IP, H, 0 ER, 9 Ks... you kinda knew I was going here when the guy throws a 1-hitter... dominant performance
  • Batting Line of the Day - Miggy Cabrera - 3 for 4, 3 HR, 4 RBI... my preseason AL MVP pick... the guy can rake
  • After 2 long rain delays... the Braves get another win over Pittsburgh... and beat a lefty in the process... Chipper is showing (some) signs of life... there's no power there still, but I'm not even asking for any... just hit .280 and walk alot...
What to watch for...
  • Lakers/Suns 8:30 TNT - I kinda buried Phoenix yesterday... I stand by it with a gun to my head... but at the same time, it wouldn't shock me if they won this one at home... the bench/shooters have been much better at home in Phoenix, and if they shoot like they are capable, they can get a win...
  • Cardinals/Cubs 4:00 FOX - Ottavino/Silva... not exactly the matchup the networks were envisioning I'd bet...
  • Braves/Pirates 7:00 SportSouth - Medlen/Burres... another lefty for Pittsburgh... Medlen has been very good, but hasn't gone deep into games... hoping he's stretched out a little more now
Aloha..
