4/17: Ramblings

One HUGE note....no NBA content today....but only because I'm doing a season wrap/playoff preview tomorrow....ok, you can breathe again

  • Kevin Love holding a presser today to announce his draft intentions....I've heard people (including the credible David Dupree) say they'd take him #1 overall...that's thoroughly ludicrous and I'm a big Love fan....he's by no means a Top 5 lock (or a top 10 lock for that matter) b/c of his athleticism concerns but I think he'll be a good pro.....don't know if he'll leave though
  • MLB: The Tigers are alive again...whew, that was a close one....still don't know if their pitching is good enough...Brandon Webb has been filthy so far (not shocking) on his way to the first 4-game winner in the majors....The Braves bullpen is TERRIBLE...yes, terrible...can't be understated....and oh yea, Barry Zito still sucks......CC Sabathia got pounded again, in a contract year...time to worry in Cleveland? Don't think so
  • Chad Johnson used to amuse me....and he can still play...but I'm all done with the offseason Chad saga....they aren't trading you...
  • Dan Shanoff stole my thunder on this....amid Mark Sanchez being named USC Starter (btw, this shouldn't be sportscenter worthy news in April but that's another rant)....Why in God's name did Mitch Mustain go there? Oh yea...that guy you forgot about...the #1 QB recruit in the same year as Tim Tebow and Matt Stafford....toiling in obscurity at USC...good decision making
  • Travis Ford to OK State....nice career choice...sure it's alot of money too....
  • A-Rod is already #15 on the all-time HR list....nothing short of a Griffey-like injury bug is keeping him from passing Bonds....well, unless Jose Canseco is right....
  • Save the Sonics! First Howard Schultz petitions to sue Clay Bennett for team rights again...then Senators from Washington ask for a delay on the vote to move them.....Let's go Seattle!!! Step up please....You'd be saving the NBA Fandom of at least one diehard I know....

One note for the NBA addicts (like me)...Bill Simmons writes a ridiculously in-depth 2-day MVP/NBA discussion article that chronicles 450 players from LVP to MVP...skipping some of course...but it's wildly thorough...check it out
