6/22: Steve Smith, Baseball, etc.

Greetings all... I'm back in the country... and back on the grind...
  • Steve Smith, of Carolina Panthers' all-pro WR fame, broke his arm playing flag football over the weekend... that's a story for 2 reasons... 1) His agent and himself couldn't get on the same page as to their story (hilarious)... and 2) Because he's really good at football and it's not THAT far away from training camp...
  • The World Cup is heating up... I think you know this already...
  • The NBA Draft is this Thursday! It should be a national holiday anyway... but all the talk/dominos center around what Philly does at #2... they'll either go Turner or Favors... but the domino effect starts with them, and no one can seem to make out what the Dalembert/Nocioni/Hawes trade actually means for them...
  • The best tennis tournament in the world is on and popping... not a big tennis guy, but Wimbledon is one of those special events that catches the attention... I compare it to the Masters for non-golf fans... it gets people buzzing a bit... especially when Roger Federer goes down 2 sets in his 1st round match... and wins
Baseball...
  • Pitching Line of the Night - Gio Gonzalez (OAK) - 7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 9 Ks for the young gun...
  • Batting Line of the Night - Full-on man crush of this blog... Justin Upton of the D-Backs... 3-3, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 4 runs and a stolen base... the kid is bad...
What to watch for...
  • Braves/White Sox - 8:00 Peachtree TV - Hanson/Danks... a pretty darn good pitching matchup... Danks is one of the best starters in the AL that no one talks about...
  • World Cup - 2 games at 10:00 AM (France/RSA on ESPN2, Mexico/Uruguay on ESPN), and 2 games at 2:30 PM (Greece/Argentina on ESPN, Nigeria/South Korea on ESPN2)
  • Wimbledon all day on ESPN2 and ESPNU...
Enjoy it...
