3/15: Here Come the Heat?....

Greetings...
  • Heat 110, Spurs 80... Yes, you read that right... After losing by 30+ in San Antonio a short time ago, the script was flipped here... Chris Bosh led the way with probably his most impressive game of the year (30 points, 12 boards), and their trio combined for 80 points (29 for Wade, 21 for Lebron)... of course, the actual REASONS they won the game go deeper... how about a rebounding edge of 47 to 31? How about holding the Spurs to 38% FG and 27% from 3?... Defense and rebounding... Miami always plays defense, but if they can control the glass, they'll be difficult to handle
  • Some strong stuff from the NFL lockout front... First, Drew Brees calling the NFL's final offer "all a show"... not a surprise here, but it's always interesting to see the highest of high profile guys in a league (in the NFL, the QB's like Brees, Manning, and Brady) go to battle on labor issues... and Secondly, the NFLPA now calling for an NFL draft boycott... This move screams of desperation to me, but they're "encouraging" new rookies to not show up at the Draft, and full-on boycotting it for current members... yeah...
  • NBA referee Bill Spooner is reportedly taking the T-Wolves beat writer... for a tweet he put up mid-game!... Jon Krawczynski tweeted about Spooner promising Kurt Rambis a make-up call in the January 24th game against Houston... and apparently, Spooner takes exception... pretty crazy story... It's kind of outlandish that this would ever make it to court, however...
  • NBA Box Score Check (non-Heat lol) - The Lakers outscore Orlando 56-38 in the 2nd half to get a 13-point home win... balanced attack for LA with 5 guys in double-figures and a huge contribution (18 boards) from Andrew Bynum against Dwight Howard... Marcus Thornton explodes for Sacto... the young guard put up 42 points in their win over GS... Utah outlasts Philly in OT... Al Jefferson led the way with 30 points and 17 boards... I love him... The Nuggets are scorching... 8-2 in their last 10, and they hit 17 triples in beating NO on the road... CP3 had 27 and 10 but it wasn't enough to overcome four 18+ point scorers for Denver... and Boston goes down in NJ... a troubling loss for Boston, who has now fallen to even with Chicago for the East's #1 seed with the far tougher schedule down the stretch...
  • Oakland A's closer Andrew Bailey is visiting James Andrews for an arm issue... in other news, this is a very bad thing for the Oakland A's... we'll see how it turns out, but I'd start getting Brian Fuentes ready (good luck!)...

What to watch for on Tuesday...

  • "First Four" - Clemson vs. UAB - 9:00 TruTV & Arkansas Little-Rock vs. UNC-Asheville (at 6:30).... a novelty this year in that there's 2 "tournament" games on Tuesday... obviously the more watchable matchup is Clemson/UAB... I'm holding off on posting my bracket until Thursday simply because I'm not taking the winner of any "play-in" game to advance past that round... but I do like Clemson tonight...
  • Bucks @ Hawks - 7:00 SportSouth - This is the makeup game from earlier in the year... Milwaukee is somehow just outside the playoff race (even with their abysmal record), and the Hawks can't afford to lose a home game vs. a bad team with the way their schedule aligns...

That'll do it... keep working on those brackets, folks...
