3/27: 6 Teams Remain....

This will be brief today... running behind with being on the road in West Virginia, so going college hoops only... sorry NBA/MLB fans... your time is coming...
  • UConn can't lose!... 9 straight tournament wins (Big East and NCAA) capped by a 2-point win over Zona on Saturday... the Cats missed 2 threes in the final 10 seconds and UConn held on... Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb combined for 39 points, and both played all 40 minutes for the Huskies... Derrick Williams was held in check, shooting just 5-13 for 20 points, but finishes 7th in all-time 3-point % for a season in NCAA history... impressive stuff... anyway, UConn continues their tear...
  • Butler does it again... the Bulldogs beat Florida in OT 74-71... Florida had the ball on the last possession in both regulation and overtime, but got 2 pretty abysmal shot attempts from Erving Walker (who shot 1-10 on the day), and Butler took advantage by holding them off... Shelvin Mack was fantastic with 27, and Matt Howard made the plays he always seems to make down the stretch, but this was a total team win for the undermanned Butler team... Florida kind of gave this one away IMO, leading by near 10 late in the 2nd half, and not executing at all in late-game clutch spots... but you can't take the win away from Butler....
What to watch for on Sunday...
  • Southwest Regional Final - VCU vs. Kansas - 2:20 CBS - No one gives VCU a chance.. and I think I'm in line with that... it's been a crazy run for VCU, but they haven't seen anything resembling Kansas, and I think the size and depth is just too much for them... the Rams may hang around, but I see Kansas by 10-15...
  • East Regional Final - Kentucky vs. North Carolina - 4:55 CBS - An absolute dream scenario for CBS, as they get 2 of the top 5 programs of all time facing off in a prime spot on a Sunday regional final... anyway, this is a virtual toss-up for me... UNC is far more talented up front with the devastating Zeller/Henson/Barnes trio that's playing out of their minds, but Kentucky is really defending at a high level (witness the way they dismantled OSU) and seem to get just what they need from Brandon Knight... and don't forget, it's not as though they're devoid of talent... Gun to my head, I think I like Kentucky, but no conviction at all there...
