9/13: MNF Double-Header, Braves, etc.

Greetings all... let's hit a couple topics...
  • Pats 38, Dolphins 24 - Well, this wasn't exactly what I'd expect... a combined 900+ passing yards from the 2 Michigan Wolverine alumni (Chad Henne and Tom Brady) to set a new NFL record for combined passing yards in a game... AND a 99-yard TD pass from Brady to Welker... anyway, the Pats win because that's what the Pats do, and Brady was incredible with 517 yards and 4 TDs, but I was actually mildly impressed by the Dolphins in the loss... Henne goes for 400+ and 2 scores with just 1 pick, and somehow ran for 59 yards (I have absolutely no idea)... Tom Brady is better than you... moral of the story
  • Oakland 23, Denver 20 - Denver well on their way to the 5-11 I predicted lol.... the x-factor in this one was Denver's complete inability (and later unwillingness) to run the ball... 38 yards on the ground won't get it done... I didn't think Campbell was particularly good, but he didn't turn it over and that was enough when McFadden had it going (22 for 150), and they had Janikowski legging 63-yard BOMBS...
  • Novak Djokovic takes down Nadal for the US Open title... weird because it was played on Monday, but I can't act like I watched this...
  • Wild Card Madness: The Rays win again and cut the Red Sox lead to 3 games... I personally think Boston holds on here, but Tampa really has it going right now, and Boston has exactly one healthy (good) starter in Lester... they gotta hold on for another week... The Braves on the other hand? Taking on water... fortunately for them, St. Louis dropped on in Pittsburgh so the lead stays at 4.5 games, but Atlanta doesn't have anybody going right now this side of Chipper, and the bullpen isn't as lock-down as it's seemed all year (albeit still dominant)... it's not over...
  • The T-Wolves have a new coach?... there's some controversy surrounding a Kevin Love tweet, but I won't get into that... the story is Rick Adelman reportedly taking the job... I like that hire... he's won everywhere he's been and they need somebody that can take them up a few levels... oh, and Kevin Love is a family friend... that doesn't hurt...
Until later...
Until next time...
