9/9: Packers/Saints, Peyton Manning, etc.

Greetings all... let's quickly touch on what happened last night before getting into the weekend later in the day...
  • Packers 42, Saints 34 - Wow... well, that's a kickoff to the season... Green Bay stones New Orleans at the goal line to end things, and you won't see a better battle of QBs than that... Aaron Rodgers went 27 for 35 for 312 and 3 TDs while Brees went 32-49 for 419 and 3 TDs... what else do you really say? These are both clearly playoff teams, and I'm not sure we'll see a better offensive football game in 2011... yeah, that's strong, but here we are..
  • The Braves did what they needed to do... sweep the double-header in Citi Field over the Mets... it wasn't pretty all day, but 2 wins are 2 wins and I feel better today than I did 24 hours ago... Brian McCann had an injury scare, but reports are positive..
  • Peyton Manning had another surgery and could be out 2-3 months?... Goodbye Colts season... In all seriousness, he's probably worth 4-5 wins over replacement, and his loss definitely knocks them out of legit contention IMO...
  • Oklahoma State 37, Arizona 14 - This wasn't really competitive... the takeaway just may be that Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon is the best QB/WR combo in the nation... Weeden went 42-53 for 397 yards, and Blackmon had 2 ridiculous long TDs...
  • Little chatter about the NBA being "closer" than we think... this kinda screams "media push" to me... show me something real...
Stay tuned for a football weekend preview later...
