11/4: Moss, KG, Michigan, etc.

Busy night.. randomly...
  • Randy Moss is a Titan... Tennessee snatched him off waivers and he'll be eligible to play right away after their bye week.. implications? It's a mixed bag... Kenny Britt is hurt, and he'll presumably step right in for him... but there are serious questions about Tennessee's downfield passing game... and since that's Randy's main asset? Could be interesting... definitely helps Chris Johnson though, teams have to keep a deep safety on Moss's side, and that takes a guy out of the box...
  • Kevin Garnett reportedly called Charlie Villanueva a "cancer patient"... this basically exploded on Twitter this afternoon, and there are various sides here... first of all, it was based on a tweet from Charlie V, and KG claims it didn't happen... at any rate, if it did happen? Obviously indefensible... but either way, it's not "news" to think that KG does inappropriate/belligerent things on the basketball court... he's basically a caricature at this point and it's understood league-wide that he's out of control with it...
  • The AP has a source reporting that the Michigan football sanction charges are being "dropped" by the NCAA... this isn't confirmed anywhere, but that's obviously HUGE for Rich Rodriguez in trying to keep his job.. no additional sanctions, and it helps him clear his name to a point if they drop the investigation... now if he can recruit some defensive backs and fire Greg Robinson...
  • The Atlanta Hawks are 5-0... impressive in that they've taken care of business in all 5 games... not THAT impressive when you realize they've been favored in every game, and they haven't beaten a "good" team yet (the best win was Memphis on the road by far)... at any rate, they got this win without Jamal Crawford and withstood an injury to Marvin Williams mid-game... a nice win...
  • Congrats to Paul Pierce on his 20,000th NBA point... he joins Larry Bird and John Havlicek as the only Celtics to chalk 20K points in the green and white... that seems... wrong? But I guess when you think about it, you have to play with the same organization for a long time, and average alot of points... Russell wasn't a scorer, Cousy had a shorter career, etc... Impressive stuff from the "ugliest scorer in the L"...
  • NBA Box Score Check - Kobe Bean Bryant threw up his 17th triple-double of his career last night (30/10/12)... he's still got it... Speaking of guys that still have it? Tim Duncan put up 25 and 17 in a Spurs road win... The Magic won by 42 against Minnesota... 42... Minnesota is really, really bad, folks... Elton Brand is alive... and well? 25 and 12 on Wednesday, and showing a little more lift in those legs... Rajon Rondo assist watch continues... 15 more on Wednesday... insanity... I can't figure out why Houston is 0-4... can anyone help me? They dropped another one to New Orleans, who got 25 and 8 from Chris Paul and a random 14 and 9 off the bench from my man, Jason Smith... Dirk Nowitzki apparently has no conscience... at all... 31 shot attempts? lol.. anyway, he was huge with 35 and 12 in their tight win over Denver... and Can someone stop Monta Ellis? I still don't like his game... but 39 pts, 9 boards, 8 dimes can't be ignored....
  • Shawne Merriman claimed by Buffalo... a nice flier for the Bills to take, and there's little chance Merriman won't appear there b/c he needs to show he can still play to get a contract for next year...
  • MLB Hot Stove: Vlad Guerrero's 9 million dollar option? Declined... not a giant surprise based on Vlad's age, but he certainly produced for 9 million this year... Derek Jeter's agent is reportedly asking for 6 years... he'd be in his mid 50s by the end of that deal, right?...
What to watch for...
  • Knicks/Bulls - TNT 8:00 - First national look at the Knicks... there will be some points scored here...
  • Thunder/Blazers - TNT 10:30 - Always a fun debate of whether my friend Ryan will tune in (lol), but this is a nice matchup... Portland has size that OKC can't really contend with, and I want to see how Batum and Mathews can handle Durant...
  • Georgia Tech @ Virginia Tech - ESPN 7:30 - A little larger breakdown in the CFB Preview (to come this afternoon), but this is a big game for VT...
Enjoy the action... College Football preview going up later today... Stay tuned
