12/1: Hoops, Mike Leach, etc.

Greetings...
  • I've decided I'm not going to update the day-to-day of the Sandusky and Fine cases... you can get that info elsewhere if you need it...
  • Mike Leach hired at Washington State... I really like the move for them, as that once-proud program has fallen completely off the map in the last decade (9-40 the last 4 years, yikes) and Leach has done nothing but win... is he insane? Absolutely... but in the Pac-12 you have to be able to score points, and he'll do that...
  • RIP Chester McGlockton... the former all-pro defensive tackle passed away yesterday.... he was currently an assistant coach at Stanford, but best remembered for his time with the Raiders... One personal note, he was completely unblockable in an early Madden game that I played as a kid, so I have that memory of him... seemed to be liked by all...
  • College Hoops Round-Up... UNC is back on track after a 60-57 win over Wisconsin... the Badgers successfully slowed the pace throughout, but simply couldn't run their offense effectively against the UNC length, and the Heels held Jordan Taylor to 6-20 shooting... Harrison Barnes had 20 for UNC in 33 minutes (and it felt like 35 in this game)... Gonzaga throttled Notre Dame in the Kennel last night 73-53... 4 guys in double figures for the Zags... man, I love watching games in that arena... and UNLV played a barn-burner with UCSB last night... the Gauchos are a legit opponent, and UNLV went 2 OT to beat them... Mike Moser with 34 for the Rebs and Orlando Johnson (one of the best players you don't know) had 36 and 10 for UCSB...

What to watch for...

  • Eagles @ Seahawks - NFL Network 8:20 - This game means utterly nothing in the standings... but if you like fantasy, or just want to watch football...
  • Football - West Virginia @ South Florida - ESPN 8:00 - Direct Big East title ramifications... if anyone cares...
  • St. John's @ Kentucky - ESPN2 7:30 - the Johnnies aren't as exciting as last year's team... but a chance to see the #1 team in the land (for now)...
  • Georgetown @ Alabama - ESPN2 9:30 - the Hoyas looked good in their last win, and get to face an underrated by some, overrated by some type of Alabama team...

Enjoy..
