12/21: D-Rose, Ohio State, etc.

Greetings everyone... In case you haven't seen them, please take a look at the NBA previews being posted... it's almost time...
  • Ohio State gets the hammer... relatively?... the team from Ohio was given a 1-year bowl ban and a 9 scholarship reduction, as well as a "show cause" period of 5 years for hiring Jim Tressel in college football... is that enough? It depends on who you ask, but if you're keeping score, USC got 30 scholarships and a 2-year bowl ban because ONE player and ONE assistant coach got caught... at Ohio State, it was multiple players and the head coach in full knowledge and lying about it... doesn't add up, but it's nice to see sanctions..
  • Derrick Rose signs the inevitable extension with Chicago... 5 years, $94 million after hitting the escalators that the new CBA stipulates, Rose will be making more than he would've been allowed to make previously... deserved...
  • College Hoops: Charleston made a run (as predicted here), but Louisville gets a 69-62 win on the back of a big 2nd half... Jared Sullinger beats up on Lamar despite foot and back issues to the tune of 18 and 11... and Syracuse remains unbeaten and number 1 with an 81-60 win over Bucknell led by Scoop Jardine's 14 and Kris Joseph's 17...
  • One NBA signing... Kris Humphries reportedly returning to the Nets for 1-year/$8 million... after averaging a double-double last year, there was a bigger market expected for Humphries, but he'll get another chance to prove himself long-term next to Brook Lopez...

What to watch for on Wednesday...

  • Hoops - Texas @ UNC - ESPN2 7:00 - A really nice game out of the blue here... J'Covan Brown and Myck Kabongo lead a talented but raw Texas team (lol Rick Barnes) against the Heels... I don't think Texas hangs for long...
  • Poinsettia Bowl - TCU vs. La Tech - ESPN 8:00 - If you really like football that much, this game is better than the last couple just because TCU is legit...

Enjoy... and stay tuned..
