12/6: Pujols, NBA Rumors, Heisman, etc.

Greetings all...
  • The big rumor of the day is the fact that the Miami Marlins have potentially offered Albert Pujols a 10-year deal... that is insane to me... he'll be 32 years old at the start of the baseball season, and that can't possibly be a financially responsible contract unless he matures like Barry Bonds did (and that's the full list btw)... that said, if they can make this happen, I'll be a little frightened of the division foes in Florida...
  • More rumors!... various NBA people are throwing around that the Lakers are pursuing both Dwight Howard AND Chris Paul with their entire roster up for grabs... count me extremely skeptical that they could acquire both because they aren't moving Kobe, and I don't think any combo of Gasol, Bynum, Odom, etc. could acquire both guys from 2 different teams... but if they want one guy? They have the ammo...
  • The Heisman finalists are out: Trent Richardson, Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Montee Ball, and Tyrann Mathieu... I'll say this... I think Montee Ball is the heisman winner... 38 touchdowns says it all, and 1700+ total yards doesn't hurt either... I'd go 1) Ball, 2) Richardson, 3) Griffin III
  • Chargers 38, Jags 14 - Now is about the right time for the Chargers to be good again... I think it's probably too late, but in that division, it's not crazy to think they could win out and win it... oh, and welcome back to the league Philip Rivers (22 of 28, 294 yds, 3 TD, 0 INT)...

What to watch for...

  • Missouri @ Villanova (in NY) - ESPN 7:00 - Really nice game in the Jimmy V... Missouri is rising up people's list, but Jay Wright always has good guard play, and that can win on any given night..
  • Washington @ Marquette (in NY) - ESPN 9:00 - Washington has been disappointing, and Marquette is coming off a huge win over Wisconsin... but these are 2 legit teams, nice game...
  • Long Beach St. @ Kansas - ESPNU 9:00 - Long Beach State is 4-3... and they are very good... they've lost to San Diego State and Louisville in competitive games, and Casper Ware can play... that said, Kansas is better...

Enjoy...
