10/19: Lee Dominates, MNF Trainwreck, etc.

Greetings all... My apologies for the sabbatical... travel + lack of internet/time will do that... Back in full this week...
  • Cliff Lee beats up on the Yanks... 8 IP, 13 K's, 2 hits, 0 ER... Even in a playoffs that has included the Halladay no-no and the Lincecum 14 K dominance of ATL, this one stood out... probably because it was against the Yankees lineup, in Yankee Stadium, in a virtual must-win for Texas... a must-win? Really? Yes, really... if the Rangers lose with their ace... the guy they brought in for this spot and this spot alone, to go down 2-1 in the series? With CC looming again? Big trouble... This was huge...
  • Monday Night Football was an abomination last night... 2 less than inspiring teams... playing a 30-3 drubbing... and Jacksonville was pounding the rock down 3 scores with 8 minutes left... I don't even know what else to say...
  • 2 managerial hires in MLB... Eric Wedge in Seattle... I've always liked him... for as much as that's worth for an AL manager I don't follow... and Tony La Russa tabbed to stick around STL for another year... I can't stand La Russa, but his success is unquestioned... Can't wait to see him in bat the pitcher in the 8th spot all year again...
  • A word on the BCS.... relax... I say this every year... but the first poll means nothing... I will tell you with a certainty that if the top 7 teams win out the rest of the year (well, 6 of the top 7 since LSU and Auburn play), that the standings will look nothing like they do now... so, in short, they don't mean anything... but the computers HATE Oregon for some reason... that could be big
What to watch for...
  • Phillies/Giants - 4:19 FOX - Hamels/Cain - Huge game for Philly here... they will be at a pitching disadvantage in Game 4 unless they throw Halladay (not happening I don't think), and could lose control of the series this afternoon...
  • Rangers/Yankees - 8:07 TBS - Hunter/Burnett - AJ Burnett... that's all this comes down to... and that terrifies Yankees fans to be sure...
  • 30 for 30 "To the Limit" 8:00 ESPN - 30 for 30 is always a must...
Enjoy!
