NBA 30-Team Preview #17: Cleveland Cavaliers

How the mighty have fallen...

ROSTER

C - Anderson Varejao, Ryan Hollins
PF - Antawn Jamison, JJ Hickson, Leon Powe
SF - Jamario Moon, Joey Graham, Jawad Williams
SG - Anthony Parker, Daniel Gibson, Christian Eyenga
PG - Mo Williams, Ramon Sessions

ANALYSIS

Brad:
Hmmm... void of talent? That's an understatement... unlike the Raptors before them, there is some veteran "star" power... I use that term loosely, but guys like Jamison and Mo Williams have been primary offensive options in the past... and Varejao is known league-wide as an underrated defender/rebounder who's value is pretty high... that's pretty much it? JJ Hickson is a nice player.. but he and Jamison play the same position, and really Varejao is a 4 masquerading at the 5 for need purpose... and the wings are... uninspiring... Parker and Moon return, but they did nothing to help them, and without Lebron there... (there it is) I don't know how they score... Sessions was a bit of a steal, but can he play alongside Mo without getting blasted on D? This could be bad...

Ryan:
When I look at the roster for this team I'm not as put off as I should be...Having Mo and Jamison actually gives them options for shots to go towards... Neither I would want to be the 1st or 2nd option but hey..you're "better" than Toronto!..People are high on Hickson but I still think he's a year away from being consistent..the wings on this team are really really...um bad..this team to me is painfully inefficient offensively but average defensively

Brad:
With you on all of the above... the have some nice defensive pieces... but when their best 2 players (mo and Jamison) are their worst defenders? That's not always the best sign... I've heard good things about Eyenga, the former late 1st-round flier pick, but he's kind of buried, and Parker and Moon will never be better than average (in fact average would be the absolute pinnacle)... They won't be... non-competitively awful... but there's just absolutely nothing to get excited about here... hey... they have the same sort of trade exception as Toronto!... ::silence::.... Okay then... Prediction: 14th in the East

Ryan:
I didn't think about those two being the weak links but they aren't doormats..I think they could be competitive as a whole too but against top teams they really have to be hitting on all cylinders and I don't think they have the firepower to do that...again with the trade exceptions! Lol.. Prediction: 14th in East
